Boring Mornings, Glorious afternoons.

Like I said in the previous post, the routine goes like this...
7am: get up, throw on some clothes, take my sister to work.
8am: get a shower, get on the computer, search for and apply to jobs.
2pm: get call from Phil -- "There a bit of wind, nice day out, wanna do some sailing?" Me -- "Heck ya... see you in a few!"
5pm: pickup Kate from work and head back to the house.
6pm: play a video or board game or two, then watch some Battlestar Galactica (I was able to hook Phil and Kat)!
11pm: bedtime!

Since it's been soooooo nice out sailing the past few days I took a few photos.

Boston Harbor Marina, on the way to Phil's moorage.

Mooring a boat means you have to have some method to get to it... that'd be the little red dingy!

That's Phil's boat just behind the dingy in that shot... thankfully not too far to row :) Although, surprisingly, that little guy's got a sail on it!

You can see the Olympic mountain range on the horizon in this shot... you may have to click on it to see it.

Here's a shot of Mt. Rainier. It peeks out at us on clear days and can bee seen from almost anywhere in the greater Seattle area.

While it was gorgeous out that day, there wasn't much wind... so, out comes the big sheet! Spinnaker's are just sweet lookin'!

Well, that's all for now folks. I'll continue to update from time to time on the job search status and any other adventures! Oh, speaking of the job search, an email just came in from the tech guy with Consona (Onyx). So, I'm gonna make that my first order of business for the day.

All Set, cruising in job search mode...

in the mornings...playing in the southern sound in the afternoons! Phil has his sailboat moored at Boston Harbor which is only about 15 minutes from the house. So, I get up every morning around 7am, take my sister to work (about 3 minutes), come home, shower and get online. From there I spend the rest of the morning looking at job postings and want ads and filling out applications.

Yesterday morning I had my first interview over the telephone with Onyx. They were bought about 6-8 months ago for 93 million cash by Consona, a holding company who has been buying up CRM and ERP software companies. The job sounds like it'd be great fun. Basically I'd be traveling 4 of 5 weekdays, work one in the office, and have my weekends to play. They send small teams of developers to customer sites to implement customizations of their software and do new product installs.

The interview could have gone better, but I did well enough for them to set me up with the 'technical' interview, the next phase of their hiring process. To be honest I expected to be speaking with a recruiter from HR, but it turns out that it was the hiring manager on the line! The only real affect that had was that I had lots of 'company' oriented questions prepared, instead of 'job-targeted' questions. Oh well, we'll see in a few days if their tech guy calls me back.

Career Builder.com has been my home for the past few days. I've applied for nearly every job that I'm qualified for that was posted in the last seven days so far, but there are still 480 or so job postings left to cover in the Seattle area alone! Drudgery!

I guess I can't complain too much though. The weather has been fantastic here. It's absolutely beautiful everywhere, so I started snapping random pics while driving about town :)

On the bridge heading downtown.

The capitol building (yes, Olympia is the capitol of Washington, for those of you who have forgotten your state capitols)

We went 'boat camping' through Memorial Day weekend. It was supposed to be nice and sunny out all weekend, but it turned out overcast. A bit of rain couldn't keep us off the water though!

Looks pretty gloomy behind those two...

But we were all in good spirits nonetheless!

I made a little map of the journey with some comments.

Not sure which passage this is, but I think it's Dana...

Jib furled up, time to get the anchor ready for a drag to get us secure for the night.

Yes, overcast, early season mornings on the sound are COLD!
